Personal statement

I am an Engineer that has came through the Strathclyde Bachelors, Masters, and Postgraduate programme and am now a Researcher within Electronic and Electrical Engineering. My focus is on how technology and artificial intelligence can be applied to farming, to support both livestock and agriculture. My doctorate was Decision Support Systems for Animal Welfare and Precision Livestock Farming, where I investigated how multiple sensor modalities may be utilised to give an early warning of disease on dairy farms, or provide indication of more feed-efficient animals on a beef farm. My current research is looking at analysis of imagery related to crops, both satellite and drone imagery. We wish to identify and categorise fields, and then further identify soil quality for precision nutrient application, as well as for land management and weed detection. My skills include programming, embedded systems, and machine learning, and I'm keen to collaborate and tackle diverse projects.
